The White House just released the names of who will be sharing Mrs. Bush's box during her husband's State of the Union speech tonight. On the list of political volley include: Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Jenna Bush, Lynne Cheney, Lori Ball (homemaker- hurt, by mortgage crisis, later saved by a social program supported by Bush), James Barnard (small business owner from Michigan), a Staff Seargent injured in the war... and etc. As you see, such an elite guest list has more to do with politics than anything else. Administrations play politics with guest lists, as they spell out certain stances on relevant issues by who gets invited to share such an elite spot on the First Lady's guest list.

Anybody specific you noticed? It just seemed like the typical over-screened American citizen there to make the White House seem compassionate.
No one shocking or special, I just think it's interesting how one can see what Bush (or any other President) will address, and his stance on certain issues, by who is on the guest list. There are bunches of injured Iraq war vets- their relevance is obvious, a couple victims of natural disasters (so he may discuss the revamping of federal emergency response), the mother of a Cuban political prisoner (to keep us scared of the outside and to remind us that we stand for... freedom), President of a National Latina Organization (Bush's unpopular pro immigration policies), even a nurse who cared for a 70 yr old woman who, according to whitehouse.gov, recognized the symptoms of a heart attack (the old lady for herself) so she went to the nearest hospital and told the nurse she recognized it was a heart attack because she just read an article by Pres. and first lady discussing the symptoms; she later (as whitehouse.gov humbly pointed out) wrote a letter of thanks to the Bush's crediting them with her survival (perhaps healthcare- quality of private healthcare- anti-universal healthcare).
