Or you can keep it real with the democrats and feel The TRUTH (Mike Gravel): http://www.ontheissues.org/Mike_Gravel.htm

For some reason, I thought Gravel dropped out a while ago. Hmm...
Oh well, Dr. Paul is still better.
yeah that's the best political ad ever made, no joke, at least he put creative effort in it. Have you heard his rap? He spits mad fire. Gravel's going strong... he gets about two or three hundred people a state. Ron Paul is down if you're into laughing at poor people. Personally I favor social welfare programs and a woman's right to choose. Dr. Paul... not so much. Not to mention he wants to pull out of all international institutions. Plus Gravel's a regular Mr Smith! His one man filibuster ended the draft. That's passion and committment. Dylan Dylan Dylan Dylan Dylan, because I spit hot fire.
Whoa now, don't smear my candidate like that. First off laughing at poor people is fun.. so back off. Dr. Paul just sees a different method to take care of the poor in this country. If there was actually a middle class then the poor would have some more help, but with a poor economy the people don't have any money to give. I don't think people in this country are as heartless as you let them be, we're just broke. Also the abortion argument has nothing to do with a woman's right to choose it deals with state vs federal power. Much like the marajuana debate, we have to ask what powers the federal government have and what powers are reserved to the states. Dr. Paul believes that abortion, marijuana, and welfare should be reserved for state policy. I'm sure he isn't going to pull all federal funding out of welfare, he will probably phase it out if anything.
As for international institutions they are dangerous if they violate our sovereignty. I agree completely with him on that one. Fuck NAFTA.
Gee golly guys doncha know its impolite to talk about politics in mixed company!
What your saying is both your and Ron Paul's method of welfare is to hope people will give enough money to the poverty class through private means? I disagree with that wishful thinking, and disagree that people don't have enough money to give to others as is. People just don't give to others as is, and an argument that it's due to the government taking money to secure welfare status is bogus, because the government doesn't provide many welfare programs (and I don't just mean welfare- like the demonized get paid not to work welfare, though unemployment insurance is part of it) and there are certain rights, like human rights, that must be secured by the federal government and can't be entrusted to states (here I speak of abortion, but think about slavery... that thinking led to the civil war, and thats indisputable, that was the legitimate cause of the civil war- the states right to secede when federal regulations condemning slavery were being drawn up). Welfare being relegated to states I can understand, but there should be a federal mandate requiring certain standards. Saying people are just too broke to give to the poor is a bit of a cop out. many people are, but a majority are not... yes a majority. International institutions, when validated, are the global community's greatest shot at enforcing human rights and preventing international conflict, they provide an impartial arbiter to settle disputes, if only they were given more power then more protection could arise because of it. there are certain things that shouldn't hide behind state sovereignty... Human and civil rights. But I was just playing about the laughing at poor people thing, I'm sure he frowns and holds his nose when a poor person comes around (just kidding again). Not doing anything for the poor is not a method to help poor people.
"The first thing we have to do is get the federal government out of it. We don't need a federal abortion police. That's the last thing that we need. There has to be a criminal penalty for the person that's committing that crime. And I think that is the abortionist. As for the punishment, I don't think that should be up to the president to decide." -Ron Paul
So despite him wanting to relegate the abortion thing to states, he wants to criminalize it.
I didn't mean despite, that was the wrong word. even though would be better.
The federal government should support a high level of civil rights, and if states vote to do more then they should have the right to enforce more rights, but never take any away, that's where the federal governments supremacy comes in and supports american peoples rights.
